Professor Obid Tursunov, together with Ergashev Olimjon, the second year doctoral student of  "Forestry Research Institute" and Islam Karimov, the first year doctoral student of National Research University "TIIAME"  are conducting scientific research to accelerate the process of afforestation of the dried bottom of the Aral Sea. It is expected that as a result of this research work, the growth and development of desert plants, that are planted in the Aral Sea will accelerate several times. A lot of scientific and practical work has been carried out on this work, gave it's start in 2022. In particular, the desert vegetation of the Aral Sea, the ecological environment of the dried seabed were studied as well. A plant type, which is suitable for afforestation has been selected, and a technology has been developed to accelerate its germination and growth development. At the same time, the processes of photogermination of plant seeds were studied.  

As part of this scientific work, on April 13-16, 2023, the professor and basic doctoral students conducted experiments on the field plot of the gene pool on the dried parts, especially the bottom surface of the Aral Sea. Under the guidance of Prof. Obid Tursunov, the condition of the seeds sown during the primary treatment period also was assessed and the seeds treated in a new way were planted on the experimental field. According to scientists, the results of the research were positively evaluated. We believe that this scientific work carried out by our scientists and researchers will make a great contribution to the process of mitigating the consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea, which is considered as a global problem!
