International summer school for USAID grant holders

Aziz Haydarov, Ph.D. student in the 1st stage of the "Hydraulics and Hydroinformatics" department, as the winner of the USAID regional "Water and Environment" project in Central Asia, is taking part in the academic correspondence summer workshop in Almaty, Kazakhstan. July 4 USAID's regional "Water and Environment" project started a summer school for ten young scientists who won the competition of research works across Central Asia. The ten-day program is aimed at increasing the capacity of young researchers to communicate research methodology and results.

The interaction of science, practice, and public understanding is key to successful water and environmental management. The destruction of the Aral Sea is evidence of the unwise use of water. The summer school will increase participants' ability to provide evidence-based information to decision-makers and effectively manage the region's water resources.
