It is important to mention that on April 18-20, 2022, the joint annual conference of Asia Hub and CASCADE (Consortium of Agricultural Universities for the Development of Central Asia and the South Caucasus) was held. The main goal of the event is to solve the problems of water-energy and food interaction (integration) arising from climate change through international partnership, cooperation and knowledge sharing.

     Surprisingly, the meeting was attended by Asia Hub partner universities and the CASCADE consortium. The CASCADE consortium includes 20 Higher Education Institutions in Central Asia and the South Caucasus. More than 45 higher educational institutions and international organizations from 19 countries of the world took part in the event. During the event, a total of over 135 participants actively participated and made over 40 presentations and speeches.

     The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Nanjing Agricultural University of the People's Republic of China, Professor Fadi Chen, the President of the King Mongkut University of Technology of Thailand, Professor Tia Suvit, and the rector of "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University, Chairman of the CASCADE Consortium, Professor Mirzaev Bakhodir Suyunovich.

    Mirzaev Bakhodir Suyunovich introduced the guests with information about “TIIAME”  National Research University.  He noted that the university is a leader in Central Asia in the field of engineering, that in 2021 it was awarded the status of a National Research University, and that the university is integrating the education of science and innovation. “TIIAME”  National Research University is in the regional QS ranking for 2021 and is currently striving to enter the TOP-1000 universities in the world and is ready to cooperate with the world's leading universities.

  During the event on April 18, 2022, the Executive Secretary of the CASKADE Consortium, the head of the EcoGIS Center, Professor Alim Pulatov made a presentation on the creation of the consortium, its goals, achievements and experience. On April 19,2022 Professor Alim Pulatov made a presentation on the topic "Solving environmental problems in Central Asia." The presentation provided information about the research work carried out to solve environmental problems.

The conference discussed the achievements of Asia Hub partners, cooperation in the Future Earth NEXUS KAN project, future research priorities, funding opportunities and future research priorities. At the end of the conference, Professor Jiaguo Qi summed up the following results of the three-day conference:

Strengthened cooperation with international organizations Future Earth, NEXUS, MAIRS-Future Earth, CASCADE, CESRA, CORDEX;

New research initiatives were launched, including the organization of joint research and the creation of joint educational programs.
