Webinars relating water, energy, food security and health in the context of Climate Change in Fergana Valley
“Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” National Research University in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program are organizing a series of webinars relating water, energy, food security and health sectors. These webinars are part of the EU-funded project "Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Central Asia". The main goal of the webinars is to strengthen cooperation between students and young researchers in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, increase their knowledge and skills in the field of water resources, energy, food security, health and sustainable development, stability in Central Asia, as well as the climate in Fergana Valley in order to help promotion risk analysis.
The first of four webinars took place on February 9, 2022 and covered the following topics: principles of research writing and peer review (Web of Science), as well as, the main principles of the analysis of systematic reviews: the relationship between water, energy and food through the example of studies on deep understanding on the importance of nexus concepts and find suitable solutions to achieve sustainability and water security. Dr. Ahmad Khamidov, researcher at the Center for Agricultural Landscape Studies (ZALF) at Leibniz University of Berlin, shared his experience in preparing scientific articles relating water, energy and food.
The next webinar will be held on February 15, 2022 and will be dedicated to managing water resources in changing climate (principles of integrated water resources management, water-saving technologies). The speaker will be Abror Gafurov, Researcher of “Hydrology and Geohydrology” department of the University of Stuttgart, member of the German Center for Geophysical Research (GFZ).
