Webinar Series on the Water-Energy-Food-Health and Climate Change NEXUS in the Fergana Valley
The NEXUS Webinar series is held jointly with the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization” and UNDP. This series is developed under the regional project, “Climate Change and Resilience in Central Asia” funded by EU. The main goal of webinar series is to strengthen cooperation between students and young researchers in the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, increase their knowledge and skills on the Water-Energy-Food-Health and Climate Change NEXUS and resilience for further contribution to the stability of Central Asian countries, as well as encourage climate change risk analysis in the Ferghana Valley.
The first out of four webinars was held on February 9, 2022 and was dedicated to basic principles of academic research writing and peer review (Web of science), as well as systematic review analysis: an example of a water-energy-food nexus study. Through this webinar, participants gained a deep understanding of the importance of nexus concepts and find appropriate nexus solutions to achieve sustainability, resilience, and water security. The speaker Dr. Ahmad Hamidov, Research Fellow Leibniz Center for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), University of Berlin shared with participants his experience on preparation analytical papers with the focus on a water-energy-food nexus study.
The next webinar will be held on February 15, 2022 and will be dedicated to water resources management in the context of climate change (IWRM principles, water saving technologies). The lecturer will be Abror Gafurov, a member of the Department of Hydrology and Geohydrology, University of Stuttgart, GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, Germany.
