International Scientific and Practical Conference on Sustainable Agroforestry Value Chains of Nut and Fruit Systems in Central Asia
“TIIAME” National Research University hosted International Scientific and Practical Conference on the topic “Sustainable Agroforestry Value Chains of Nut and Fruit Systems in Central Asia”. The event is part of the research project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and promoting sustainable land management through the development of products, processes and SMEs in agroforestry value chains in Central Asia.
The main purpose of this conference is to exchange ideas and explore innovative approaches to sustainable agriculture in this crucial region. It is not a secret that agroforestry plays a vital role in Central Asia's agricultural sector, contributing to food security, livelihoods, and environmental sustainability. Definitely, by integrating trees and shrubs into agricultural landscapes, agroforestry systems can enhance soil fertility, conserve water, and provide valuable products such as timber, fruits and nuts.
At the event, the rector of “TIIAME” National Research University Bakhadir Mirzaev, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Otabek Makhkamov, the head of the project Darr Dietrich and a number of foreign experts expressed their opinion on the topic. We believe that this event will support all universities in Uzbekistan in finding new ways to create a sustainable agroforestry value chain that will benefit both the environment and the livelihoods of Central Asians. Special thanks to Dilfuza Egamberdieva for organizing the event at a high level by attracting several foreign professors and researchers!
