On May 21, 2019, was adopted the law “On the Use of Renewable Energy Sources” which laid the foundation for the development of the industry. Many promising projects have been developed with the involvement of foreign investors. Last year in August was launched the first solar photovoltaic station in the country. In the coming days, the construction of another such station in Samarkand is being completed. In general, in 2022-2024, it is planned to build 10 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of about 3,000 megawatts through foreign direct investment.

Qualified engineers and personnel with up-to-date knowledge are essential for the quality operation of future power plants. The Department of Energy Supply and Renewable Energy Sources of the  "TIIAME" National Research University also makes a worthy contribution in this direction.

In particular, last week an Olympiad on "Renewable Energy Sources" was held among 2nd-year students (in the form of tests and oral questions and answers). According to the final results, four winners were determined. The winners were awarded certificates and memorable gifts from the leadership of the institute.
