"Priceless model" of the globe

There is a proverb "better to see once than a thousand words." This can be attributed to the Tashkent relief-landscape globe, which is located at the Faculty of Geography and Natural Resources of the National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek. Cooperation between higher educational institutions and organizations continues this academic year as well. In particular, on January 31, 2023, students of group 113 of the "professional education (land cadastre and land use)" direction of the Faculty of "Land Management" under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformatics O. Ruzikulova visited the Faculty of Geography and Natural Resources of the National University. The purpose of the visit is to get additional information on geodesy and to consolidate the acquired theoretical knowledge.

With the help of the globe, students enriched their knowledge on such topics as the surface, absolute and relative heights, the shape and dimensions of the Earth, coordinates, and natural and geographical patterns on the Earth. The students visited the educational and methodological room named after the "Uzbek Magellan" Kh. Khasanov, where a relief globe was installed. The Tashkent relief-landscape globe was made in 1979-1984 in a workshop for the production of educational equipment in Perm, Russia, by order of Kh. Khasanov. Weight - 240 kg, base -250 kg. Total 490 kg. The circumference of the surface is 13 m2. The globe uses 2 scales: vertical scale - 1:200,000. Horizontal scale - 1:7 million. Kh. Khasanov provided the necessary information for 5 years.
