PRESETT Assessment Module training and piloting at HEIs by British Council

It is important to suggest that Guzal Eshchanova, Marguba Khudaybergenova, Ulugbek Nullaev and Bakhtigul Isakulova teachers of “English language” department, “TIIAME” National Research University participated at intensive training programme “PRESETT Assessment Module project”, organized by British Council at Uzbek Ste World Languages University.

To support further reform of Preservice Teacher Training (PRESETT)  nationwide the British Council and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the University of World Languages are working on the project aiming  to develop a new module in PRESETT curriculum focusing on basic principles of English language testing and assessment. In 2023 a national team of curriculum writers supported by the British Council experts Dr Viktoria Clark and Aidan Holland have been working on the content of the new module. Module pilots are scheduled for September 2023- January 2024. 

On 23-25 August, 2023 to prepare to the pilot of the new module in key PRESETT institutions in Uzbekistan, the University of World Languages is hosting an intensive training programme for more than 100 English teachers from 15 universities in Uzbekistan. Programme participants will discuss key principles and the content of the new module, will have an opportunity to review module materials with their colleagues from other universities as well as take part on the assessment clinic with UK and Uzbekistan assessment experts and discuss publications in the areas of testing and assessment.

During the intensive training programme there was organized a microteaching by teachers of HEIs, aimed at implementing a particular designed teaching materials for the Assessment of integrated skills (“Assessing Reading”, “Assessing Writing”, “Assessing Speaking”, “Assessing Listening”) of different level students (A1 & A2), (B1 &B2) and (C1 & C2).

At the end of the intensive training programme there were awarded certificates to the project participants.
