The holiday was proclaimed by the General Conference of UNESCO on November 17, 1999, and has been celebrated since 2000. Mother tongue is the soul of a nation. The language is a state symbol and property. The preservation and development of the language mean the rise of the nation. The status of the state language is legally enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Thus, the Uzbek language has become a symbol of the sacred state, standing among the Flag, Emblem, and Anthem of our independent country.
On October 21, 1989, the Law "On the State Language" was adopted, according to which the Uzbek language was given the status of the state language, which was a decisive step towards independence. Language is the spiritual wealth of the nation.
