Friendly environment is a key factor for happiness

It is known that if only the society that is in harmony with nature can maintain balance and develop, it can lead to people’s friendly environment. It is clear that  the sustainability of land and soil is important, starting with environmental cleanliness, attention to desertification and drought is one of the most important issues. Due to that June 17, 2022 has been declared as the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought. This date is associated with the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, which was adopted in 1994 by the UN Conference on the Environment. We know that drought is one of the most devastating natural disasters in terms of large-scale crop losses, forest fires and water shortages.

Regarding this date, there was organized a round table discussion on  June 17, 2022 at "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University together with the faction of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection.

The event was held by the vice-rector of our university, Professor Sultonov Tokhir Zakirovich. It was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khushvaktov Islam, Tirkasheva Mukaddas, Khodjaeva Mohira and Turgunboy Khodjanazarov, who exchanged views on this topic. For Uzbekistan, the issues of desertification and drought control occupy a priority place in ensuring sustainable development. The consistent measures and international projects are being implemented in this direction. In particular, since 2017, the CADI project “Central Asian Desert Initiative” has been implemented in our country. This program has been consistently run by FAO. Our students were inspired from gaining knowledge and experience from the event.
