In cooperation with the US UniCEN program

Definitely, ensuring sustainable development in Central Asia is associated with the efficient use of water and land resources in the region. Due to climate change, much of Asia is facing severe water shortages. To reduce the risk of water scarcity, it is necessary to expand research and strengthen education on the implementation and management of innovative irrigation technologies.

On September 9, 2022, in the Innovation and Research Cluster on Water Resources Management of our university, on the initiative of  “Hydraulics and Hydro informatics” Department, within the framework of the UniCEN project of the US Embassy in Uzbekistan and the American Council for  International Education, there was organized a seminar on the topic "Technologies and practices of crop irrigation". The seminar was attended by the director of the laboratory of the Center for Natural Resources and the Water Center of the University of Nebraska in the USA, Head of the Department of Biological Engineering systems,  as well as representatives of the universities of Central Asia. The presentations aroused great interest and heated discussions among the participants. The seminar will continue its work in "Research polygon" of National Research University "TIIAME" in Tashkent region and in agricultural fields where advanced irrigation technologies have been introduced.
