It is better to see once than to hear a thousand times
on November 25, 3rd-year students majoring in Geodesy and Geoinformatics and Land Management and Land Cadastre of
"Land Resources Management" faculty, TIIAME, jointly with docent O.Ruzikulova had a trip to the Tashkent Cartography Factory, in order to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired in the discipline "Cartography and design and construction of natural maps" and study it in practice.
Cartography has developed in Uzbekistan since the early twentieth century. In 1934, the Tashkent Cartography Factory was established as the only one in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. The factory provides government agencies and public organizations with thematic, political-administrative, reference, and training cards and atlases.
They got acquainted with the process of printing cards and atlases and printing products on 2 and 4 color machines in the card factory. Currently, there are topographic, survey-topographic, and survey maps for all regions of Uzbekistan. They serve as a basis for creating maps and atlases on various topics. Students also visited the Card Factory Museum to see the variants of maps and atlases that have evolved over the years, and to compare the differences between borders, place names, and settlements. Ancient geodetic instruments and tools were of great interest to them. They also got acquainted with the process of working in various mapping programs. The students returned with rich impressions. They strengthened their theoretical knowledge gained in higher education.
